UKMT is an online forum for journalists and those working in pr. We're made up of a group of media professionals (pr people and journos) who decided that our jobs would be so much easier if we all talked to each other. Although we spend most of our time communicating, we all tend to shy away from discussing our challenges and needs with our peers. So we sat down and used a beer mat to sketch out an outline of what a good professional networking (pronet) site should do. After all, Web 2.0 is all about local communication that's available globally - not cut throat competition. And this is it. UKMT is by no means perfect but, with your help, we’ll do our best to make it as near to perfect as possible. What can you do to help? That bit’s easy. Sign up, tell your friends. Use UKMT if you need a contact number, advice on how to do things, announce yourself for freelance, full time or contract work. Use UKMT for a hands-on Gods-honest opinion on equipment. Infact, use UKMT to help you work better. Simple really. Our Four Point Mission Statement
To utilise the potential of the internet to build a community of media professionals who will interact with each other in an open and helpful way.
To be a valuable resource of advice and opinions specifically for journalists and PR people.
To provide information and friendly discussion on media-related issues.
To create a sense of belonging for journalists and PR professionals who may be located in different parts of the United Kingdom.
